On Monday 14 September, MENd Together had the privilege of delivering a men's mental health and wellbeing session with FM Conway. We spent the morning with 23 men who took time out of their busy day to explore what it means to be a man in today's world. We also explored new ways of communicating, and some of the issues that are taking up the most space in their lives. We were so grateful and impressed with their willingness to do this.
It was a powerful and poignant morning for all of us there.
The construction and infrastructure industries depend on men who are reliable, practical and able to keep going under pressure. Those qualities are a real strength, but they can also make it difficult for someone to say when life, work, relationships or past experiences are beginning to weigh heavily on them.
The session created space for an honest conversation about men's mental health, the pressures men carry and the importance of reaching support before things develop into a crisis.
Workplace sessions matter, but men also need somewhere to go afterwards. Community spaces like the groups and circles MENd Together runs across Kent give men opportunities to connect, listen and speak without judgement.
This is the kind of bridge MENd Together wants to build: connecting responsible employers with trusted, practical and trauma-informed support that men can genuinely engage with.
We are now looking to develop partnerships with more employers, particularly across construction, engineering, infrastructure and other male-dominated industries.
A MENd Together corporate partnership can include
- — Confidential one-to-one support for employees
- — Facilitated men's circles
- — On-site wellbeing drop-in days
- — Practical workshops
- — Leadership coaching with directors and senior leaders
- — Dedicated digital wellbeing support
- — Clear routes into community and specialist services
This is about more than delivering a one-off talk. It is about helping employers build a culture where men can speak earlier, access the right support and remain connected, while knowing that their privacy and dignity will be respected.
Thank you to FM Conway for making space for this important work.
If your organisation wants to have a genuine conversation about supporting the men in your workforce, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
