    Introducing MENd Steady Ground

Why we built MENd Steady Ground

At MENd Together, we've spent years sitting with men in circles, in peer support groups, in one-to-one peer support sessions. We've heard the same thing over and over again: 'I didn't know where to go when it got heavy.' Between sessions, between groups, in the middle of the night when the walls close in, men told us they needed something that was always there. Something private. Something that didn't require explaining yourself to anyone.

That's why we built MENd Steady Ground. It's not a replacement for human connection, it's a presence to it. A trauma-informed wellbeing app designed specifically for men, available whenever you need it, wherever you are in the UK.

The problem: men don't have a place to land

Most men carry more than they let on. Stress, anger, anxiety, grief, addiction urges, unresolved trauma, loneliness, it builds up quietly. And when it overflows, the options are limited. Most mental health apps feel clinical or generic. Most aren't built with men in mind. And most don't understand trauma.

MENd Steady Ground was designed from the ground up by people who understand what men actually need, because we've lived it ourselves.

The heart of the app is a 60-second daily check-in.

    What MENd Steady Ground does

    Daily check-ins

The heart of the app is a 60-second daily check-in. You name how you're feeling, flat, stressed, angry, anxious, overwhelmed, alright, or good. You rate your energy. You identify what's weighing on you, work, money, relationships, family, health, loneliness, grief, addiction, trauma, or nothing specific. You notice your body state. And if you want to, you leave a note.

It takes less than a minute. But over time, those check-ins build a picture. They help you see patterns you can't see in the moment.

Reset tools, grounding when you need it most

When things feel heavy, you don't need a 30-minute meditation. You need something fast, practical, and real. That's what the Reset tools offer. Box breathing when your chest is tight. Progressive relaxation when your body won't let go. 5-4-3-2-1 grounding when you're dissociating. A cold reset when anger is about to boil over. Urge surfing when you're fighting the pull to use. Sensation checks when you've gone numb.

Each tool takes 1–5 minutes. They're designed by people who understand what dysregulation actually feels like, because we've been there.

    Guided journal

The journal isn't a blank page. It's structured prompts designed for the situations men actually face. 'Something triggered me.' 'I feel angry.' 'I feel shut down.' 'I feel like using.' 'Conflict with someone.' 'I feel alone.' Each template walks you through what happened, what you felt, what's underneath it, and what you need.

There's also free writing for when you just need to get it out.

    Pattern insights

Over time, the app tracks your moods, energy, triggers, and body states. You start to see what's actually going on, which days are hardest, what keeps coming up, how your body responds to stress. This isn't about data for data's sake. It's about understanding yourself well enough to make different choices.

    Community

MENd Steady Ground includes a private community space where men can share, read, and know they're not alone. It's moderated, safe, and confidential. You don't have to post, reading other men's experiences can be powerful enough.

    AI guide

An AI-powered guide is available for moments when you need to talk something through but don't have a person to call. It's trauma-informed, gentle, and never pushes. It's not therapy, but it's a steady voice when you need one.

    Safety

A confidential space, held with care.

    Steadiness

Move at your own pace, week by week.

    Growth

Quiet steps that build over time.

Who is MENd Steady Ground for?

It's for any man who wants to check in with himself. That includes men dealing with stress, anger, anxiety, depression, loneliness, grief, addiction, or unresolved trauma. It includes men who've been through our Men's Circle in Canterbury, our online Peer Support Group, or our one-to-one peer support, and want something to support them between sessions.

It also includes men who aren't ready for a group or a conversation yet. Sometimes, the first step is just naming what's going on, privately, on your own terms.

Whether you're in Canterbury, Kent, or anywhere in the UK, MENd Steady Ground is available to you.

Pricing that meets you where you are

We believe cost shouldn't be a barrier. That's why Steady Ground starts at just £1 per month for the START tier, giving you daily check-ins, basic reset tools, limited AI guide access, and basic journaling.

Membership at £6.99/month adds full AI guide access, community and forum, complete journal and insights features, the Healing from Trauma pathway, advanced pattern insights and priority AI access. One plan, everything included.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Steady Ground app free to use?

Yes, the core wellbeing tools in Steady Ground are free for men across the UK. We built it as part of our charitable mission to make mental health support more accessible to men who might never walk into a therapy room.

Do I have to share personal information to use it?

No. You can use the app anonymously. We take your privacy seriously, and we don't share your information with third parties.

Can the app replace therapy or peer support?

No, and it's not designed to. Steady Ground is a daily presence, not a replacement for human connection or clinical care. It works best alongside peer support, peer support, or therapy as part of a wider toolkit.

What kind of tools are inside the app?

Grounding exercises, breathwork, journalling prompts, short trauma-aware reflections, and gentle nudges to help you notice how you're really doing. Everything is designed for men, by men who understand the territory.

    How do I get started?
