Men's Mental Health Support for Construction & Engineering Workplaces
Supporting the wellbeing of men working across construction, engineering and infrastructure.
MENd Together delivers practical, confidential workplace wellbeing sessions designed to create connection, encourage conversation and help men access support.
The challenges
The challenges facing men in construction
Construction and engineering teams are full of skilled, capable people who look out for each other. The work can also bring particular pressures, and men may not always feel able to say when those pressures are getting too much.
High-pressure environments
Tight programmes, deadlines and responsibility for safety, quality and cost.
Physical and emotional demands
Early starts, long days, physical strain, pain and fatigue that affect sleep and mood.
Cultures that can discourage openness
Places where saying you are struggling can feel risky, or like letting the team down.
Working away from home
Travel, nights away and less time with partners, children and friends.
Isolation
Changing sites, teams and subcontractors can make it hard to build lasting connection.
Stress and personal pressures
Money worries, insecure contracts, relationships and family life don't stop at the site gate.
Barriers to asking for help
Not knowing where to go, worrying about confidentiality, or feeling it isn't serious enough yet.
The Chartered Institute of Building's 2020 survey of 2,081 construction workers found that over a quarter (26%) had experienced suicidal thoughts, and only 56% said their business had a mental health policy. Office for National Statistics analysis of deaths registered between 2011 and 2015 found suicide risk among low-skilled male construction workers was around three times the male national average. Suicide has no single cause, but the pattern makes early, accessible support important.

Our workplace experience
A morning with 23 men at FM Conway
On Monday 14 September 2026, MENd Together delivered a men's mental health and wellbeing session with FM Conway. We spent the morning with 23 men exploring what it means to be a man today, new ways of communicating, and the issues taking up the most space in their lives.
Read about the sessionStart with a pilot
An easy first step.
You don't need to commit to a long programme. Start with a single workplace session or a small pilot for one site or team, then decide together what comes next. Every organisation is different, so we shape a proposal around your people, objectives and delivery requirements.
Confidentiality and safeguarding
Clear boundaries, agreed before we start.
Employee choice and confidentiality
Taking part is always voluntary. Conversations stay confidential within appropriate limits: where there is a safeguarding concern, serious risk or a legal duty, we act on it. Those limits are explained to everyone who takes part.
Employers never see individual sessions, bookings or notes. Any reporting to your organisation is anonymised and aggregated, with agreed minimum numbers so nobody can be identified.
Professional boundaries
MENd Together provides person-centred support, peer support, facilitated groups and practical navigation. We are not an emergency, medical or statutory mental health service and do not replace therapy or clinical care.
Safeguarding, referral and escalation routes are agreed with you before delivery begins. Where someone needs specialist help, we support them towards the right service. Our safeguarding approach.
